Repede is a good boy.Flair/banner images from,. I posted this in an another thread when someone asked about Dawn of a New World.Symphonia is my favorite Tales game but I hated the sequel. The story makes it feel more like a spin-off than an actual sequel. You pretty much have 2 permanent party members (Emil and Marta), then monsters you recruit to fill any empty spots, and the characters from the first game join you here and there but then will leave for some reason or another. Also you can't change any of their equipment, only for the two main protagonists.Another thing that bugged me about it was that except for Colette and Presea, none of the voice actors were the same from the first game, so most of them don't even sound the same. I disliked the sequel.
Symphonia is my favorite Tales game by far and one of my favorite games. The sequel just felt so cheap and unpolished in comparison. The characters were one-dimensional, the story was poor, there was no open-world map, and it honestly brought Symphonia down a peg for me just through association.
The only redeeming factors for DotNW are its combat and voice acting (although even the voice acting is disappointing in that the original actors did not return for all roles, and the combat for lack of any impactful hi-ougis).I honestly pretend that DotNW does not exist. I wish they did a proper sequel to Symphonia rather than a cheap spin-off.
